Chief
Instructor Darrell Bluhm holds a degree of 6th dan (black belt)
and
Shihan (master instructor) certification in Aikido and is a member
of the
Birankai North America Senior Council. He is assisted in teaching
by Cindy
Eggers (4th dan, Fukushidoin and coordinator of children’s
programs),
Christy Calder (2nd dan, Fukushidoin), Michael Mordock (3rd dan)
and other
senior students. Bluhm holds a teaching certificate from Master Choy
Kam
Man’s Tai Chi Chuan Academy of San Francisco. He began studying
Tai Chi with
Master Choy in 1971 and has taught Yang-style forms for over twenty
years.
Bluhm
began his study of Aikido at U.C. Santa Cruz in 1970. In
1981 he became a student of Kazuo Chiba, Shihan, and a founding
member of San Diego Aikikai. Chiba Sensei, a direct student
of Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba, is Technical Director
of Birankai International and Chief Instructor of San Diego
Aikikai. He continues to offer guidance and inspiration to
Siskiyou Aikikai members through direct contact at seminars,
his writings in Biran (a semi-yearly publication of Birankai
International), and his ongoing
teacher-student relationship with Bluhm Sensei. (More information

In
conjunction with his training in the martial arts, Darrell Bluhm
is a
Licensed Massage Therapist, active in practicing and teaching a
variety of
bodywork methods for over twenty-five years. As a Certified Feldenkrais
Practitioner CM, Bluhm offers private Functional Integration® lessons
as
well as Awareness Through Movement® lessons in a group class
format.
A full schedule of ongoing classes is offered each week from Monday
through
Saturday. Siskiyou Aikikai hosts weekend seminars each year with
various
regional and local instructors, and members have access to many
training
seminars in the Pacific Northwest, the U.S. and beyond.
Siskiyou Aikikai boasts a membership that is diverse, dedicated,
and
